How UAE Corporate Tax Is Calculated

For a standard taxable person under the normal UAE Corporate Tax regime, the calculation starts with taxable income rather than revenue. Taxable income is generally derived from accounting income and then adjusted in line with the Corporate Tax Law.

The first AED 375,000 of taxable income is generally subject to a 0% rate. The portion above AED 375,000 is generally subject to 9%. That means a business with AED 1,000,000 of taxable income does not pay 9% on the full AED 1,000,000.

Final Corporate Tax payable can differ from this simple estimate because tax losses, exemptions, reliefs, foreign tax credits, Free Zone rules, related-party adjustments and other provisions may apply.

Official reference point: Verify material tax decisions against the UAE Federal Tax Authority and UAE Ministry of Finance.

UAE Corporate Tax Calculation Examples

These examples show how the standard 0% and 9% bands work before considering special reliefs, exemptions or tax credits.

Example 01

AED 300,000 Taxable Income

Estimated TaxAED 0

The taxable income is below the AED 375,000 threshold, so the standard calculation produces no Corporate Tax liability.

Example 03

AED 2,000,000 Taxable Income

Estimated TaxAED 146,250

AED 1,625,000 sits above the standard 0% band. AED 1,625,000 × 9% = AED 146,250.

Small Business Relief UAE — Could Your Business Qualify?

Small Business Relief can potentially treat an eligible Resident Person as having no taxable income for an eligible Tax Period when the required conditions are satisfied and the election is made.

The key revenue test is AED 3,000,000 or less in the current and all previous relevant Tax Periods. A prior period above the threshold can prevent eligibility for a later period.

Qualifying Free Zone Persons and members of certain multinational groups cannot elect for the relief. The current relief window applies to qualifying Tax Periods ending on or before 31 December 2026.

Who Should Use This Calculator?

This calculator is designed as a first-pass estimate for UAE businesses that already know—or can reasonably estimate—their taxable income. It is particularly useful for planning cash flow before a professional return calculation is completed.

It does not determine whether every person is within the scope of Corporate Tax, and it does not replace the specialist analysis required for Free Zone or complex cross-border positions.
